Daniel
Zea (1976) He begins to study composition in Bogotá
with Harold Vásquez,
after graduating as Industrial Designer. In 2007 he finished
a major in composition in Geneva with Eric Gaudibert, Michael
Jarrel, Luis Naon and Rainer Boesch (electro-acoustics), as well as a Master in Sonology (program dealing mainly
with electroacoustic and computer music composition) in the
Institute of Sonology of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague
(Netherlands) with Paul Berg, Kees Tazelaar, Johan Van Kreij,
Joel Ryan, Clarence Barlow, Konrad Boehmer and Pieter Pabon.
Interested in Colombian folklore and popular music as well,
he works with several groups as a performer. His compositions (both
instrumental and electro-acoustic) have been performed in
Bogotá, Cali, Barranquilla, Miami, Illinois, San Salvador, La Habana, Mexico, Seoul, Annency, Paris, Bonne,
Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Leiden, The Hague, Karlzruhe, London,
Brussels, Bienne, Fribourg, Lausanne and Geneva. He has received
the "Prix subside d'études de la Fondation Kieffler-Hablitzel
et l'Association Suisse des Musiciens" in 2005 and 2006.
In 2005 he founded the ensemble Vortex (in association with
other composers and performers), where he participates as
a composer and as electronic music interpreter. He works as well as a teacher in the Geneva university of art and design (HEAD) giving lessons of sound and video interactive programming, and he collaborates regularly with several visual artists in installation projects. |
